More About Me Than You Probably Care to Know

I'm originally from a very small town in Tennessee, but I've lived in southern California since 1997. I normally work full time and go to college as a part time student. Unfortunately, I started having some health problems last summer. As a result, I've been on temporary disability while dealing with all of that.

I recently (April 2007) had an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion to correct two herniated discs in my neck. At the same time, my surgeon also performed a decompression of my ulnar nerve for treatment of peripheral neuropathy and cubital tunnel syndrome.

After spending some time recovering from both surgeries, I've been able to mostly get back to my normal life. I went back to work part time in July and full time in August 2007. I'm finally back to being able to exercise and completed my first post-surgery 5k race on Thanksgiving Day 2007.

I love to spend some of my spare time volunteering and helping others. Most of my volunteer hours are spent working for Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, or for the local chapter of the MS Society (my sister has MS). I also do some charity stitching for groups like Stitches from the Heart and Operation Teddy Bear. I also sponsor 2 beautiful little girls (Dipika & Lovely) in India through Children International. Actually, Dipika is actually becoming a young lady at this point, so 1 little girl and 1 young lady. image

The rest of my spare time is spent on my hobbies. I'm an avid cross stitcher, but also enjoy knitting, rubber stamping (especially making hand-made greeting cards), working SuDoku puzzles, playing games at Pogo, listening to music on XM Radio, and watching movies from Netflix.
